How often should you mow your lawn in Christchurch?

Height matters more than frequency

The classic mistake is scalping the lawn to stretch time between mows. Cutting more than a third of the blade at once stresses the grass, invites weeds and browns off in the first dry spell. A slightly longer lawn shades its own roots, holds moisture through Canterbury's dry snaps, and stays greener for it.

Overgrown? Don't scalp it in one go

Knee-high grass after a busy summer or between tenants needs staging: a high first cut, then progressively lower over a mow or two.
